Overview
Mehrgarh, on the Kachi plain of Balochistan, preserves one of the longest sequences of early farming in South Asia — from about 7000 BCE onwards. Its mud-brick houses, storage buildings and burials show the slow shift from hunting and gathering to farming and herding.
Discoveries here include some of the earliest evidence for drilled teeth anywhere in the world, from around 9,000 years ago.
