Çatalhöyük

A Neolithic town with no streets — people walked across the rooftops.

Overview

Çatalhöyük on the Konya plain is one of the best-known Neolithic settlements in the world. Houses were built wall-to-wall, so residents moved over the roofs and climbed down ladders into their homes.

Wall paintings, plastered bull horns and burials beneath house floors give a rare, intimate view of daily life nine thousand years ago.
